Board Games!!

Yes! You too can play board games online with nice people!

Here are a few ways we are featuring - but feel free to run your own some other way.
Some of these options do involve spending a little money - but think of all the money you saved on hotel nights, eating out, and even the con fee. Hopefully, there's an option here for everyone.

Once you've agreed on a game, you can use the voice channels we've provided on Discord to have a chat while you play. We're happy to create one just for your group, each time you create a game - just use the # request-a-channel chat to request a voice channel, and we'll get you one in a jiffy.

We have set up a "Wilmark" group on boardgamearena.com

Please email "thewilmarkdynasty@gmail.com"
or contact any member of the council to get an invitation.
Whether or not you play board games during RELAXICON 2020 GOES VIRTUAL! we would love to grow this community as an outlet for all of us.

You play online, no downloads necessary. It's free to play and they have lots of games. However, we recommend you support them by going Premium. It costs $5/month or $24 for the year, and means you're guaranteed to get logged in to play. Because of covid, the site is experiencing an overload of players, so sometimes they are just too full. You will want to do this before RCon begins, so you're all ready to go when the games kick off.

Use our Discord # looking-for-players to find other players,
or (if you aren't using Discord) just do it through the website.
STEAM
We have set up "The Wilmark Dynasty" group on store.steampowered.com.
Please email us to be added to the group.

Steam sells lots of board games which you can play online with other people, such as Ticket to Ride, Mysterium, Carcassone. All players will need their own copy of the game to play. Once you're friends with someone on Steam, however, you can see what games you already own in common.

Use the Discord # looking-for-players chat to agree on a game.

Some games require you to have an account with Asmodee online to play together. Which leads us into our next option:
Asmodee App games!

Many of Asmodee's great board games have been re-created as Apps for phones, tablets, and computers.
You'll need an account and the app to play. These are relatively cheap and download quickly, and could be a great option for you to play during the weekend. We recommend Splendor!

Use the Discord # looking-for-players chat to find other players.

A Town Called Malice
System: Storygame RPG
GM: Jay Law

A Town Called Malice is the new story game by Monkeyfun Studios, created by David Kizzia. It’s a combination of thematic Nordic Noir such as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Broadchurch and The Killing, with isolated small-town horror similar to Thirty Days of Night, The Thing and Fortitude. Twin Peaks by David Lynch is a heavy influence, in its portrayal of small town secrets and underlying darkness that pervades every step the characters take.
A Town Called Malice is based on the Story Pillar System, which utilizes story game elements popularized in games such as Fiasco, where players develop the narrative and create complex character relationships as they struggle to keep the town together.
Nominated Best RPG 2019 - Meeple Mountain
Voted one of the Top 10 RPG's of 2019 - Victory Condition Gaming
Game is EXPRESSLY a storygame RPG, not a traditional tabletop RPG. Focus is entirely on role-playing, and players looking to tactics, combat, and problem-solving will be sorely disappointed. Characterization, acting, and collectively weaving a story are the watchwords.
The game is 100% what the players make of it. As the GM, my role is little more than to administer the framework.
# Of Players: 3-4
Duration: 4 hours
Themes tend to be dark. Mature audiences only. "X Card" will be in play for situations that might be triggering. Ages 18+.

WHAT TECH WILL THE GAME USE: WebEx by Cisco. No account required, but players will absolutely need to test their systems prior to game time, as the ability to see and use the virtual whiteboard is critical. Host will set up a few times for testing in the week leading up to the game for this test.
