A Few Tech Tips for Online Gaming:

When you first enter the Wilmark Discord server, you will find in the top left our Important Info Menu, including #welcome, #announcements, #rules-briefing, and #tutorials.  Please visit each of these in turn, as they should have all the information you need to get going, follow our policies, and reach out for help if you need it.

Before you get going, here's a few great starter tips:

Please use the Discord App on a PC/Mac whenever possible when playing in TTRPGs and LARPs.

The phone apps (both Android and iPhone) and the Discord-in-Browser have proven to be unreliable for extended TTRPG and LARP play, causing connection issues, difficulty seeing the video of other players, and you won't be able to easily swap between other functions (google docs, whiteboards, etc.)

If you are just hanging out and chatting or doing board games, mobile should be fine.

If you plan to play in an online Tabletop or LARP, please make sure that you have a tablet or PC available that can run the DISCORD APP voice/video smoothly, and any additional materials/documents the GMs may provide. (Note: Not all games require video, but just covering our bases).

It also helps to show up 10-15 minutes before your game start, in case of any last-minute changes or technicial snafus.

Please make sure you wear headphones or earbuds!

Nothing fancy required; even just your cheap $10 earbuds will do! It greatly reduces echo when in voice and video channels from audio playing thru the speakers and being picked up by the mic

In general, it helps to be aware of other folks talking, whether there are Minors/Under 18s present, and the background noise level where you are when hanging out, especially during scheduled game sessions.

As an option: Discord has a Push To Talk option that allows you to hold down a button when you're speaking... If you're, say, blasting Peppa Pig or ICP in the background, or sitting in the same room as another player, we highly recommend it!

(and, as always, we are happy to help you set it up.)
